BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FISHERIES DEPARTMENT

    The department of fisheries has inherited a genius tradition from the inception. In addition to the basic objectives of education, The department of fisheries has been continuously working for the overall development of the students by implementing new initiatives to brighten the innate qualities.

    From the day of it’s inception in 2018, The department of fisheries made a conspicuous headway in the arena of imparting education to the promising youth , who may soar to the acne of success. First preceding Head of the Department Dr.K.V.V.Madhavi Rani a role of progenitor for the generation who succeeded her. She also played a key role in the form of prominent positions.

    In 2000 Dr.K.V.V.Madhavi Rani has bagged the aided post in St. Anns Degree College, Eluru. M.K.Durga took the charge as HOD from 2000 onwards and efficiently steered the departmental activities till 2005. On June 17th 2005 Dr.Ch.Swapna took additional charge of the department till date.

    The Department has organized many invitive talks, Guest Lecturers, Field visits to – Balayogi science parks, Gosamrakshana samithi, Nexgen Company, Mulapadu Butterfly park, Fishery ponds, Fish landing centers. Department has also conducted many events like Great backyard bird count ( Campus Bird Count ) 2nd week of February , Big butterfly month (October ) and students are exposed to a 6 months mini project on “Biodiversity around us” and our department of zoology and fisheries , Celebrate National Science Day on February 28th every year.

    Faculties of the department of fisheries are actively participating in seminars, conferences, work ships and publishing research papers in National and International journals.
